The Journey Behind the Art
Art is an eclectic journey that crosses multiple dimensions of fine art, multimedia collage, and textile design. For me, creating is a lifelong dialogue between deep emotional narratives and visual experimentation. Every piece in this collection is designed to bring personal expression, sophisticated beauty, and authentic narrative depth directly into your home.
From Cuba to Los Angeles
Born in Cuba in 1955, I migrated to the United States with my family in 1968, grounding my artistic roots firmly in the vibrant creative landscape of the Los Angeles area. In 1974, while my husband, Rodrigo, pursued his Ph.D. at Stanford, I lived in France and Italy. Immersed in European culture, we studied art history and art philosophy in depth—an experience that profoundly shaped my perspective on aesthetic composition and visual storytelling. Upon returning to the United States, I further expanded my intellectual framework by studying Political Science and Philosophy at Cal State Long Beach.
A Legacy of Exhibition and Wearable Art
My professional exhibiting career began in the early 1990s at the Galeria de Las Americas in Los Angeles. Driven by a desire to bring art into the rhythm of daily life, I expanded my focus into textiles in 1998, launching a high-end fashion line of wearable art. This collection was showcased in major cultural hubs across the United States—including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Philadelphia—as well as internationally in London, UK.
Over the decades, my fine art has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across California and beyond, including:
-
2024: Del Alma, Latina Portraits at the Vincent Price Art Museum, hosted in the iconic Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
-
2020: Conversations (Solo Show) at the T. Elliot Gallery in Riverside, California.
-
2016: Close to Home at Art Share LA in Los Angeles, California.
-
2013: Vanities, Vanidades, Vanities at the Latino Art Museum in Pomona, California.
The Studio Today
Operating under Sara Palacios Designs, my creative focus returns to premium-grade, museum-quality presentations that bridge contemporary fine art and personal narrative. Utilizing premium Giclée museum archival paper, these prints ensure gallery-level longevity, deep contrast, and intense color accuracy, allowing each visual story to remain vibrant for decades.
Thank you for welcoming my work into your collection and allowing these narratives to become a part of your daily environment.
